Jeanne Rose: Song Lyrics

Living Without You

(Jeanne Rose)
1998
Jeanne Rose
I wrote this song for my son, Shane. I wrote it when home one evening, wishing I could have his smile, his laughter, and his presence there with me. I had a hard time when he was away, as my life was wrapped around him and most everything to do with him. Sports six nights a week, family things, friends, and school...and when he was gone the house was very quiet and I spent hours just thinking of what he might be doing that given moment. So, with guitar in hand, this song spilled out in minutes. I was really missing having him in my life during that time. So, this song tells of that morning when thoughts of him filled my mind, and my guitar gave to me this song.

I love you Shane, so this one's for you!
Living Without You

It’s been a long, long summer
Falls come round again
Leaves dance with brilliant colors
Bundled warm within
Your Granny’s teapot rumbles
It whistles on my on my stove
Warm cedar scent surrounds me
Lovely fire warm it glows

If only you were here
Oh, this day would be complete
Cuz’ living without you
Is so much harder than you think (x2)

I’ll go about my day now
So much, I need to do
Dishes waiting, dog needs walking
I’d rather be with you
Last summer’s light has faded
Gentle winds send the gift of you
Just knowing, soon you’ll be here
Makes this day worth giving to
